Jefferies Park
North Area
Jefferies Park was named for a family of Scottish immigrants that moved to Calgary in 1907 and lived for generations in the Ramsay neighbourhood. The northern portion of the park has transformed significantly over the years. In the mid-century, the park housed a skating rink that residents flooded and maintained during the winter months. This area then became a playground that was then removed in the 2020s in preparation for the incoming LRT line. Likewise, long-time community members remember a series of older homes that were removed as the park expanded northward. At present, Jersey barriers appear as seemingly permanent markers of park boundaries that are consistently in question.
